ShyVault

Terms of use

Last updated October 19, 2026

These terms are between you and AZ Digital Inc. ("we"), the maker of ShyVault. By using ShyVault you agree to them and to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which also applies. Where the two differ, these terms take precedence to the extent Apple allows.

Using ShyVault

You may use ShyVault on Apple devices you own or control, for your own files. You're responsible for what you keep and share with it, and for using it lawfully. Don't use shared vaults to distribute content you don't have the right to share or that is illegal.

Patterns and recovery phrases

Your vaults are encrypted with keys that come from your pattern and recovery phrase, and we never have them. If you forget a vault's pattern and lose its recovery phrase, nobody can open that vault, including us. Keep each recovery phrase somewhere safe, and remember that anyone who has it can open the vault.

Backups

iCloud backup depends on your Apple Account, your iCloud storage and Apple's service. We work to keep backups complete and current, but we can't promise that every file will always be backed up or restorable. Keep your own copies of files you can't afford to lose.

Shared vaults

A shared vault can be opened by anyone with its code. Expiry dates, limits on how many people can join, and whether files can be saved out are kept by the ShyVault app, not enforced by a server, so share codes only with people you trust. Stopping a share removes it from iCloud and from devices that joined the next time they open it.

Duress vaults and disguises

Duress vaults and disguise icons are meant to make your vaults harder to find. They can't guarantee your safety or the secrecy of your files in every situation.

ShyVault Pro

ShyVault is free to use within the limits shown in the app. ShyVault Pro is available as a weekly, monthly or yearly subscription, or as a one-time Lifetime purchase, with family plans for up to six people through Apple Family Sharing. Prices are shown in the app before you buy.

Our content

ShyVault, its name and logo, and the text and images on this website belong to AZ Digital Inc.. Your files are yours; we claim no rights to anything you keep in ShyVault.

Changes to ShyVault and these terms

We may update ShyVault, add or remove features, and change these terms. If we make a significant change to these terms, we'll update the date above and say so in the app. Continuing to use ShyVault after a change means you accept the new terms.

No warranty

ShyVault is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and that the app will be free of errors or loss of data.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost files or data, arising from your use of ShyVault. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for ShyVault in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be waived.
